AFI Association of Food Industries

AFI Serving the U.S. Food Import Sector

Advocating for the
U.S. Food Import Sector

Since 1906, The Association of Food Industries has been the U.S. food import industry’s trade association. Today, more than 1,000 companies around the world – U.S. importers, foreign suppliers and firms in and outside the U.S. providing services to the sector – are members of AFI. Some of AFI’s recent accomplishments include unmatched assistance in helping the industry comply with FDA’s FSMA regulations, ongoing dialogue with FDA and CBP officials to address issues in the honey sector and advocating for the food import sector before the Federal Maritime Commission and others regarding today’s shipping issues.

The growth of the imported seafood industry has created the need to ensure the voice of that sector is heard by those at FDA, other government agencies and Congress (case in point; a recently introduced bill that would place onerous burdens on the imported seafood sector.) Key players in the imported seafood sector have reached out to AFI and expressed interest in developing a structured approach for industry representation via a group of U. S. seafood importers, foreign suppliers and service providers under the AFI umbrella. See details for information on AFI and the benefits your company will realize through membership.
